The raster layer drawn over OpenStreetMap: a blue dot per stop, its stop number from zoom 15, and number and name at zoom 17. A hollow ring is a pick-up point served only by on-demand transit.

Coverage vs OpenStreetMap: see which City stops are missing from OSM, missing their ref, misplaced or named differently — a mapper's worklist with an interactive map and table.

Two layers — which to use

Vector layer Interactive. Click a stop to read its tags (ref, name, fixed_route, on_demand, objectid). Best in iD.
Raster layer Stops, numbers and names drawn directly on the tiles. A readable backdrop. Best in JOSM.
Heads-up: the number on the layer is the City's stop ID, which is what Guelph's OSM stops already carry as ref. At zoom 15–16 a number that would print over another is left off; at zoom 17 every stop carries at least its number, and its name where there is room.

Add to iD

Vector layer (interactive)

  1. Open the iD editor and press U for the Map Data panel.
  2. Under Custom Map Data, open the settings and paste this URL:
https://guelph-maps.github.io/guelph-bus-stops-layer/tiles/vector/{z}/{x}/{y}.pbf

Zoom in, then click any stop to see its tags in the inspector.

Raster layer (visible numbers)

  1. Open the Background panel and choose Custom.
  2. Paste this URL template:
https://guelph-maps.github.io/guelph-bus-stops-layer/tiles/raster/{z}/{x}/{y}.png

Add to JOSM

Raster layer (recommended for JOSM)

  1. Open Preferences → Imagery and click +TMS.
  2. Paste this entry (the tms[13,17] prefix sets the zoom range; JOSM scales it up past z17):
tms[13,17]:https://guelph-maps.github.io/guelph-bus-stops-layer/tiles/raster/{zoom}/{x}/{y}.png

Give it a name such as Guelph Bus Stops, click OK, then enable it from the Imagery menu. Note JOSM's placeholder is {zoom}, not {z}.

Vector layer (optional)

JOSM can also add the vector tiles via Preferences → Imagery → +MVT:
